IQAC of the college organized a One-day Workshop on “NAAC Revised Assessment and Accreditation Framework” on March 17, 2019. Principal, Dr. R.P. Singh welcomed and introduced the Keynote Speaker of the workshop, Dr. Ganesh A. Hegde, Deputy Adviser, NAAC, Bengaluru and the Resource Person, Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal, S.D. College, Ambala Cantt. Dr. Singh underscored the need for understanding the methodology of assessment and accreditation framework and the grading pattern of NAAC. Dr. Anju Jain, Convener, IQAC, presented the theme of the workshop. She deliberated on the issues pertaining to the qualitative and quantitative metrics for NAAC evaluation. She said that the workshop was planned to understand the terms and conditions of re-assessment by NAAC in order to enhance the performance of G.M.N. College in the next accreditation process. Dr. Ganesh Hegde, in his Keynote address, explained the seven criteria of NAAC in detail by discussing all the key indicators required for HEIs for accreditation in NAAC. Dr. Hegde stressed on the need for innovative thinking, curriculum enrichment and eco-friendly initiatives to be undertaken by an institution in order to improve its performance in NAAC grading. He motivated the faculty to make the teaching-learning process more interesting and student- centric. He also pointed out the significance of alumni engagement and institutional distinctiveness in taking an institution to newer heights of excellence. He informed the delegates regarding the online submission of AQAR, qualitative and quantitative metrics, Student Satisfaction Survey and Data Verification and Validation process. He laid emphasis on the significant role played by NAAC in making the HEIs work towards evolving global competencies among students and providing them with value-based education needed for the national development. In his speech, Dr. Rajinder Singh, stressed on the use of latest technology for collecting large amounts of administrative data. He stated that College Management Information System helped in smooth functioning of HEIs. He suggested the use of COHA software for effective functioning of the college library. He inspired the faculty members for doing quality research. He also hinted at the need of extension activities to be carried out by various departments. All the faculty members attended the workshop.
