The Department of Commerce was established in 1970. Keeping in view the need of vocational education and training, two Job-Oriented vocational courses were introduced, first Foreign Trade added in 1995 and second Computer Application in 1996. In 2004 two more vocational courses were added viz. Tax Procedure & Practices and Principles & Practices of Insurance. During the session 2015-16, a new course of B.Com. (Hons) was also introduced.
The Department aims to fulfill the diverse need of students and society by offering them various market -oriented and vocational Programs. In addition, it develops students’ overall personality and instill in them social and national values. Various value added programs are also provided to students to make them Job- Relevant.
The department has seven regular teachers , one of the faculty member is deputed as Deputy Director in DHE. Five faculty members are Ph.D, one Chartered Accountant and two pursuing Ph.D. The department conducts short term courses named Tally ERP, Business Ethics and Social Responsibility of Students.
Apart from the courses , various extra curriculum activities are organized in Department like Quiz competition, Essay Writing , Declamation, PPT Presentation competition etc. to keep the students up to date with current trends and market practices. This helps them in their overall growth and development. The Departments also encourages the students to actively participate in the placement programs organized by the college for better future prospects of the students.
Our Department has modern infrastructure with equipment promoting smart learning. There is a Departmental Library which facilitates the students to access knowledgeable books of eminent authors. Besides this, training programs which enhance their practical skills in the concerned subjects.
To recapitulate, our department makes every possible effort for the overall growth of the students as well as for the overall development of our beloved organization.
