FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME on “E-Content Development”

REPORT ON FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME on “E-Content Development” Gandhi Memorial National College, Ambala Cantt in association with International Institute of Organized Research (I2OR) organized five days Faculty Development Programme. The title is “E-Content Development” from 30 May, 2020 to 03 June, 2020 under the guidance of Dr Rajpal Singh, Principal of the college who told that the programme is meant for teaching faculty and the purpose of the programme is to support educators for an effective teaching-learning process and also to abet the teachers to enhance their skill set and engaging their students in a befitting manner. The convener of the Faculty Development Programme Mrs. Upinder Kaur further added that the program will foster the faculty’s knowledge, skills and professional competence. Though Faculty Development refers to a range of activities that are perceived to help academicians in improving their professional skills that are vital for carrying out their teaching, research or administrative activities, our program mainly focused on the development of E-Content. She told that the first three days are live sessions and the last two days are for the self paced assignments. The first day of the Faculty Development Programme started on 30 May 2020, at 3 PM sharp. In the opening session Mrs. Upinder Kaur, discussed the importance of the Faculty Development Programme and also of the “E-Content Development” in the present scenario. Then she introduced the Key Speaker Mr. Tanvir Singh, Training Manager IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorials. He started his session by discussing the need for the E-Content Development since COVID-19 posed the global challenge; educators with undying spirit shifted the whole scenario of teaching to go for remote learning. Thus this FDP on “E-Content Development” has been designed to support the educators and institutions; to assist them to select the right tool(s) among various online/offline platforms to engage their students and enhance their skill sets during this Global Health Emergency. Mr. Tanvir Singh started the DAY 1 of the Faculty Development Programme with the first module “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Plagiarism and Licensing”. The sub-section of which was IPR (Rights and Acts), Plagiarism (and its types), using own ideas, Copyrights issues and how to create own graphics using free tools, creative commons licenses and University Grant Commission Policy on Self-Plagiarism (India). The Question answer round take half an hour and the participants were very active till evening. The programme was attended by 74 participants. The second day of the Faculty Development Programme was started at 3 PM on 31st May 2020. Dr V.K. Bindal, Dean of Science, Gandhi Memorial National College introduced the keynote speaker Mr. Amit Kumar, National ICT Awardees 2015, Microsoft innovative educator expert and master trainer who is also a certified Wake let Trainer and Ambassador. Mr. Amit Kumar started his session by Four Quadrants of MOOCs, creating Google Forms for quiz, assignments to analyze them so as to help the teachers. Mr. Amit elaborates every single point practically. The session continued for one hour. 74 participants attended the DAY 2 of FDP. The third day of the Faculty Development Programme i.e. on 1st June 2020, Dr V.K. Jain, Dean of Commerce, Gandhi Memorial National College welcomes the keynote speakers Mr. Amit Kumar, National ICT Awardees 2015, Microsoft innovative educator expert and master trainer who is also a certified Wake let Trainer and Ambassador and Mr. Tanvir Singh, Training Manager IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorials. The session started at 3 PM with “Dissemination of E-Content”. Mr. Amit Kumar introduced the WAKE LET, FLIPGRID. Mr. Tanvir Singh told the process to create QR Code for teacher’s videos. 74 participants attended the program. In the evening two both the speakers were active in answering the queries of the participants. They uploaded the YouTube videos too to demonstrate everything practically. Feedback form link was given in the WhatsApp group. The fourth day i.e. 2nd June 2020, the participants were very active to complete their given assignments. They were asking questions and the convener, the speakers often were answering and clearing their doubts etc. Few of the participants submitted their assignments. They all were excited for more of live sessions. The last date of the above said Faculty Development Programme is the fifth day. Mr. Tanvir Singh sent an assessment test in the form of Quiz in all the sections covering Plagiarism, Intellectual Property Rights, E-Content, Flip Grid, Format Factory, Google forms etc in the WhatsApp group. The activity engages each participant and they were quite excited. Dr V.K. Bindal told that overall the Faculty Development Programme is a success as it has given the teachers, educators a new environment of building ideas and also to implement them. In the End the vote of Thanks was given by the convener. The Principal of the college, Dr R.P. Singh congratulated the convener and other organizers for such a wonderful new concept.
